Shot at Point Dume in Malibu, this frame was all about restraint. I held back on contrast, leaned into warmth, and let the highlights bloom across the sky to create that dreamlike haze. The goal wasn’t sharpness—it was softness. I underexposed slightly to protect the shadows on the bluff and let the cliffline stretch forever in the background, barely there, but still anchoring the frame. When I clicked the shutter, I waited for the figure to hit that exact moment of stillness—centered but not posed, silhouetted but not lost. They’re part of the landscape, not above it. That was the whole point.
