"FIREBALL" - Maui, HI

Shot at first light at Jaws, this moment felt like the ocean exhaled fire. The wave began to peak, and just as the wind caught the lip, it launched a plume of spray into the sky—lit perfectly by the rising sun. I had maybe half a second to react. As the colors flared and the spray twisted in the air, I pressed the shutter. It felt less like capturing a wave, and more like freezing an explosion—raw, powerful, and gone in an instant.
