"TIDAL MAPS" - Costa Rica

Shot from a drone above the tide pools and reefs of Costa Rica, this image captures more than coastline—it reveals a natural mosaic. The textures beneath the surface blend seamlessly with the rocky shoreline, almost like brushstrokes on canvas. I dialed back the saturation just slightly to allow the earthy rust tones of the rocks and the deep greens of the ocean to blend into one another, rather than compete. What I love most about this frame is the duality—where the static reef meets the unpredictable ocean. There's a quiet chaos here. Foam trails break apart into abstract shapes, while the underlying reef holds steady like a forgotten fossil bed. I wasn’t looking to capture "perfection"; I was looking to document the tension between stillness and movement. This one feels like a satellite image from a different planet—and yet it's completely, unmistakably Earth.
